2027 Cadillac Lyriq prices: American EV gets more kit, range cut

The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq has been detailed for Australia, with just a single variant to be offered moving forward – at least until the promised high-performance Lyriq-V arrives.

Just the Sport AWD will carry over for model year 2027 (MY27), with a revised powertrain and battery system that offers more torque and quicker acceleration, but less range. It remains priced from $90,000 before on-road costs.

The dual-motor electric drive system now outputs 384kW/720Nm – down 4kW but up 110Nm – which helps the MY27 Lyriq Sport AWD to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds (from 5.3s).

However, the nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) lithium-ion battery has shrunk in capacity from 102kWh to 92kWh, dropping claimed WLTP driving range from 530km to 503km. DC charging capacity has also dropped from 190kW to 130kW.

Quoted energy efficiency is rated at 20.2kWh/100km on the combined cycle, which is an improvement on the outgoing model's quoted 22.5kWh/100km, no doubt helping to minimise the driving range reduction despite the smaller battery.

The MY27 changes align the Lyriq with the smaller Optiq and larger Vistiq, which for Australia and other markets like Europe adopt smaller batteries with slower DC charging capacities than the US market due to Europe's ECE Regulation 100.03.

Still, the American marque claims 10 minutes of charge time can replenish "up to 114 kilometres of range" at the quoted 130kW peak, while 22kW AC charging replenishes "up to 105 kilometres of range per hour".

There have been various other changes on the specification sheet.

The two front knee airbags are gone, dropping the airbag count to six, but lane centring and traffic sign recognition join the suite of safety equipment.

The Lyriq Sport's premium sound system gets an upgrade for MY27. Now with 23 speakers (up from 19), the AKG Studio system adds Dolby Atmos capability.
