Chery E5 recalled

Chery Motor Australia is recalling over 1800 examples of the Chery E5 as the system that warns pedestrians of the small electric SUV's presence may not work.

"Due to a software issue, the vehicle’s Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) may not activate. If this occurs, pedestrians and other road users may be unaware of the vehicle’s approach," the company says in its recall notice.

"Vehicles are non-compliant with Australian Design Rule 113/00 - Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems for Quiet Road Transport Vehicles."

• A total of 1852 vehicles are affected, produced between 2025 and 2026
• The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you'll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised dealer to have the rectification carried out, free of charge.
