Hyundai i30 Sedan recalled for fire risk

Hyundai Australia is recalling over 3000 hybrid-powered examples of the Hyundai i30 Sedan to fix an issue that could spark a vehicle fire.

"Due to a software issue, the hybrid power control unit could overheat during vehicle operation. If this occurs, it could lead to a vehicle fire," the company says in its recall notice.

"A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.

"For precautionary measure, vehicles should be parked outdoors away from structures and other vehicles until the software update has been completed."

• A total of 3316 i30 Sedan Hybrids are affected, produced between 2023 and 2026

If you own an affected vehicle, you'll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Hyundai dealer to have the necessary work carried out, free of charge.
