The LDV D90 is available with a diesel engine for the first time in almost two years as part of an updated model range that also brings a new ‘Luxe’ flagship, making the large seven-seat off-road SUV more competitive with rivals like the Ford Everest, Toyota Prado and Isuzu MU-X.

The new diesel joins existing petrol model grades in the expanded D90 lineup, every member of which also comes with a $4500 discount until October 31, 2026, before price increases of up to $1000 take effect.

For now, the petrol D90 is priced from $36,990 drive-away for Australian Business Number (ABN) holders, and $39,174 drive-away for private buyers, making it one of Australia's cheapest seven-seat SUVs.

The sub-$40,000 starting price puts the D90 close to the seven-seat Chery Tiggo 8 Urban’s current $38,990 drive-away promotional price, which also includes a $2000 fuel card.

However, both are still more expensive than the petrol-only Mahindra XUV700, which also offers seven seats and can be had for as little as $29,990 drive-away as part of runout promotion for 2025 model-year vehicles.

The D90’s new diesel powertrain will be offered in two trim levels, starting with the mid-spec Executive, priced from $46,990 drive-away for ABN holders and $49,700 drive-away for private buyers, including the $4500 October discount.

That matches the diesel-powered KGM Rexton's current promotional price of $46,990 drive-away, although the Mahindra Scorpio Z8 remains the most affordable diesel seven-seat SUV in Australian showrooms, with MY25 examples currently available from $43,990 drive-away.

The $4500 discount is scheduled to end on October 31, 2026, unless extended, after which the D90 will revert to standard pricing. Compared with the previous model, this means price increases of up to $1000 for ABN holders and $526 for private buyers.

The new 164kW/520Nm 2.5-litre turbo-diesel from the LDV Terron 9 ute has higher outputs than the 160kW/480Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel previously offered in the D90, along with 1.0L/100km lower combined fuel consumption at 8.1L/100km, and a 3500kg braked towing capacity – up from 3100kg.

All D90 diesel models come with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, with crawl control and a rear differential lock as standard. The Executive rides on all-terrain tyres, while the Luxe switches to Continental road tyres.

The D90 Executive, regardless of powertrain, includes 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, synthetic leather trim, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a sunroof above the front row.

The new flagship D90 Luxe is offered only with the turbo-diesel, priced at $51,490 drive-away for ABN holders and $54,437 drive-away for private buyers.

It adds 20-inch alloy wheels with Continental road tyres, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, a 360-degree camera, a power tailgate with a kick sensor, front and rear differential locks, and a larger panoramic sunroof.

LDV Australia expects an uptick in sales given the popularity of diesel powertrains in rival models such as the Prado, Everest and MU-X, all of which have sold in larger numbers than the D90 so far in 2026.

In September, the D90 recorded 211 sales against 830 for the MU-X, while the Everest’s 1713 sales put it second in the segment behind the Prado with 2006 sales.

The seven-seat SUV is the second-most popular model in the LDV Australia lineup behind the related T60 ute, and ahead of the Deliver 9 large commercial van.
