After discontinuing all of its wagons, Mercedes-Benz Australia has returned to the market segment with a new long-roof model offering both mild-hybrid and electric power.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake marks not only the return of a wagon to the three-pointed star brand’s local lineup, but also the return of the CLA Shooting Brake nameplate.
The first-generation model was sold here, but Mercedes-Benz Australia skipped the second. Now the third generation is arriving, and it’s due in Australian showrooms in January 2027.
Available to order from today, it’s priced from $70,800 before on-road costs in CLA200 Shooting Brake guise, with the electric version costing just $2190 more at $72,990 plus on-roads.
Unlike its four-door coupe sibling, there are no all-wheel drive variants available.

No all-wheel drive CLA200 Shooting Brakes will be offered here at launch, with a choice of a front-wheel drive CLA200 mild-hybrid and a rear-wheel drive CLA200 electric.

The CLA200's mild-hybrid powertrain allows it to drive on pure electric power when the required output is below 20kW.
The CLA200 electric features an 800V electrical system and a two-speed transmission, with the second gear engaged at higher speeds to aid efficiency. It features battery pre-conditioning.
