Isuzu's factory is shutting down production of the D-Max and BT-50 because of problems with a component supplier – but Mazda says it should be okay for supply in the short term.

The 2021 Isuzu MU-X has gone official, with the same 3.0-litre engine as the D-Max and a full suite of driver aids. It's on track to arrive in Australia in around 12 months.

Isuzu's new D-Max will soon have a new MU-X seven-seat cousin. The reveal has been locked in for October 28 in Thailand, although local timing isn't yet clear.

The Isuzu MU-X finally gets automatic headlights, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but only in the limited-run Onyx Edition priced at $56,990 drive-away.

The Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 might be twins, but don't go expecting a second set. There will be no Mazda MU-X.

The popular Isuzu MU-X is set to be replaced in the next 12 months, but the current model still represents decent value and promises rugged 4x4 capability.

New or updated versions of Toyota Kluger, Subaru Outback, Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Santa Fe and Palisade, Mazda CX-9, Kia Sorento, and Isuzu MU-X are expected for 2021. Plus, we forecast out a little further.

Expect to see more power and torque, along with an off-road pack for the all-new Mazda BT-50 and Isuzu D-Max.
